Mobile ring tones are now everywhere. This ever-present ring tones even reached the forests of western India, where leopards are answering their calls. Six leopards that strayed too close to villages have been decoyed into traps by ring tones playing the calls of roosters, goats and cows.

The governments of Liberia and Sierra Leone re-opened a common border post after 17 years. The border post which spans the Mano River known as the Bo Waterside was closed in 1990 when Charles Taylor's National Patriotic Party of Liberia launched an uprising against the regime of the then president Samuel Doe.

France announced to launch the third-generation European pressurized nuclear reactor (EPR). Work is already under way at Flamanville, near Cherbourg. Historically, France is against relying entirely on nuclear power, and in favor of energy savings and renewable sources but realized that it needs sophisticated nuclear reactors to meet the increasing demand.
