Sri Lanka observed another bloody week (June 2007), where the Army and LTTE rebels fought several gun battles across the country. Last week, Sri Lankan government soldiers killed about 30 Tamil Tigers in a clash in a jungle in the islands restive east. This was hours after the Navy announced that it had killed around 40 insurgents in a sea battle. |

Mexican government re-arrested a former governor right after his release from the prison. He served a six-year sentence for money-laundering. According to Mexico's Attorney General's Office, the former governor Mario Villanueva was re-arrested on drug-trafficking charges. He served as a state governor of Quintana Roo before imprisoned in 2001. |
