Mobile ring tones are now everywhere. This ever-present ring tones even reached the forests of western India, where leopards are answering their calls. Six leopards that strayed too close to villages have been decoyed into traps by ring tones playing the calls of roosters, goats and cows.
Instead of using live bait, now sounds of animals have been downloaded as ring tones on mobiles, which are attached to speakers kept behind cages and then played at regular intervals. The leopard drawn by the sound is an unsuspecting victim. This trick however only works at night.

Thousands of leopards roam the Indian countryside, but loss of habitat has forced them into more frequent contact with villagers, resulting in the deaths of humans and leopards.

Recently the forest authority stepped in and asked the villagers not to harm the animals for pleasure.
