The Emirates is refurbishing in-flight service across all classes on its long haul fleet of Boeing 777s. Emirates plans to receive 24 new aircraft en-suite with the in-flight facilities over the next 18 months.
The management will also implement an aggressive program to retrofit its existing 777s. The Emirates will spend about $50 million to install this enhanced first class product onboard. This figure does not include the enhancements in other classes of travel, or the retrofit program.

The Dubai-based carrier plans to introduce an enhanced version of its first class private suites, lie-flat massage seats in business class with more personal space, economy seats with extra legroom and large personal TV screens in all classes. The new look will make its debut on new 777-300ER Ultra Long Range aircraft being delivered this month as well as on 777-200LRs, the first of which will be delivered in August this year.

Emirates, the Dubai-based airline, also signed a contract valued at more than $14 million with CAE of Montreal for the purchase and installation of a CAE 7000 Series Boeing 777-300ER full-flight simulator (FFS). The deal included buyer-furnished data and equipment to support the airline's flight training requirements for its fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The simulator will be installed in Emirates' new crew training centre in May 2008, which will also house two other new CAE full-flight simulators dedicated to Airbus A380 aircraft training.

The Emirates currently operates 26 777-300ER aircraft, mainly on long-haul routes.

The airline has 33 more 777-300ERs on order, plus 47 Airbus A380 double-decker aircraft, the first of which will be delivered in August 2008. This massive investment firmly positions Emirates' in-flight product at the zenith, and widens its competitive edge in long-haul travel. These decisions came after the airline’s customers reported that they want more personal space, particularly on long-haul travel.
